ELECTION RESULTS

 

RBHA NEWS – Sam Wins!

 

Sam Cooper’s fifteen-year term as Mayor of Rehoboth Beach will continue!  The Mayor defeated Bob Sokolove 768 votes to 413. 

There are also two new commissioners on the Board.  Dennis Barbour was the highest vote-getter with 790 votes.  He was followed by Ron Paterson with 777 votes.  Dave McCarthy, 381 votes, and Bill Shields, 352 votes, will have to try again next time. 

A total of 1,346 persons registered to vote.  Of those, 902 people were present and voted.  There were an additional 289 absentee ballots cast. The total 1,191 votes may be a city election record.

The Mayor will be sworn in at the Monday August 15, 2005 Commissioners Reorganization Meeting.  It will follow the Regular Meeting, which starts at 7:00 pm.  Mr. Barbour and Mr. Paterson will also be sworn in at the meeting.

RBHA BOARD MEETING

 

The Rehoboth Beach Homeowners’ Association is holding a Board meeting on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Epworth United Methodist Church on Baltimore Avenue.  A business meeting will start at 8:00 am and will include a discussion of the outcome of the City’s election.  At 9:00 am City Commissioner Kathy McGuiness, Chair of the Parks & Shade Tree Committee, will highlight ongoing action to develop a new tree ordinance.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
