RBHA GENERAL MEETING
The Rehoboth Beach Homeowners’ Association will hold its annual General Meeting on October 15, 2005, 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Epworth United Methodist Church at 20 Baltimore Avenue. Here are some of the featured agenda items:
CDP IMPLEMENTATION
An Open House will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 1:00 pm [this start time was set to avoid conflict with the RBHA General Meeting at 10:00 am the same day]. The City is encouraging public participation in the implementation of the CDP and this is one of the first steps in this process. For further information we have posted two recent City publications; one is a copy of the CDP Implementation Statement and the other is an ad that will appear in the newspaper (a similar copy will be sent via letter to the same mailing list which the city used for the FAR referendum announcement). THANK YOU COFFEE
On Wednesday, October 26, 2005, the RBHA will host our second Thank You Coffee for City employees. If you can donate bake goods or help with the event, please respond by eMail to info@rbhomeowners.com by October 6, 2005. We urge you to come thank the people who look out for us and make our lives easier!
OTHER CITY NEWS
Streetscape Update Would you believe $5,000,000? The cost to the City for the new Bandstand, related facilities, and other aspects of the final phase of Streetscape could be that high! At the September 17, 2005 regular Board of Commissioners meeting Mike Rothenheber, VP JMT, reported on the remaining expenses and the funds that will be provided by various federal and state funding sources. Although there will be nearly $7 million made available from these sources, the city is required to provide 20% matching funds. According to the JMT memo submitted at the meeting the City’s share and associated construction costs range from $3.85 million to $5.05 million. View the JMT memo p1, p2, p3.
Effluent Disposal Speaking of spending money, try these numbers: $36,630,000 or $61,300,000 or even $112,800,000! These figures were tossed around during a presentation by Rip Copithorn, VP Stearns & Wheeler—an engineering consultant that recently completed a study on wastewater disposal alternatives—at the September 6,2005 City Workshop. The city must decide which of several options it wishes to exercise to discontinue disposal of effluent in the canal. The options are land application, deep well injection, and ocean outfall—the cheapest option. At the meeting Mayor Cooper indicated that the community would be involved in the decision process. We will endeavor to provide you with as much further information about this as possible.
